Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery (SPUD) started simply. Its Vancouver customers phoned in their orders and one lone bicycle delivery guy dropped them off. Today, the online grocery store delivers fresh, local and organic products right to clients' doorsteps every week in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary and Edmonton.
Those placing an order can choose from a variety of products including produce, dairy, cleaning supplies and vitamins as well as health and beauty items. Deliveries are made weekly depending on the neighbourhood, and consumers also have the option of receiving more frequent deliveries for an additional cost.
