When a kitchen store near Angela Gauthier's existing business closed down, she saw an opportunity. "Every day, people would come asking about it," recalls Angela, "and I figured enough people were asking, so I looked into opening a new store." After consulting with her husband, Angela soon launched her new business, The Happy Kitchen.
The store’s name was part of a compromise Angela reached with her husband: she could expand into the new business if her husband could name it. He landed on The Happy Kitchen and Angela loved it so much she decided to run with happiness as a theme. “Everything in the store, all the little signs and aprons and things, has something funny on it,” she says. “Our customers are just laughing the whole time. It’s a happy little store.”
