“Jobs always change,” says Imperial Hobbies owner Francis Munroe, “but my interests have always stayed the same: Any kind of gaming, model building, and any kind of reading, especially comics.” With that in mind, Francis decided to combine his passions with his occupation and founded Imperial Hobbies in 1986.
“There’s always new product coming in,” he explains, “so there’s always change, always something new happening.” Francis thrives in the up-tempo pace of the hobby industry, anticipating the latest shipment of comics, miniatures or role-playing games as eagerly as his devoted customers. His passion for the products his store carries means customers can count on him to stock exactly the types of items they’re looking for.
“The staff and I all build and play with the majority of products we carry,” says Francis, “so everyone in the store really loves what they’re doing and knows what they’re talking about.”
