Paul Russell’s path to owning Looney Tunes started in the mid-1980s before CDs even became popular and long before the digital music revolution. He stepped in simply to help a friend. That was in 1984 and the store was part of the Records on Wheels franchise. Paul had some free time; he knew he’d get to listen to music all day and maybe he’d even get a break on the price of his records.
Paul explains: “I started working at it in September ’84 and shortly after, I started putting money into it. But I took it over probably about ’87 or ’88. But I was running it during all that time. I was in charge of the day-to-day stuff.”
