I attended Montana's Cookhouse with my Brother and Girlfriend last week and expected good quality food and service. I expected it because Montanas Cookhouse i widely recognized and I have also attended it before and loved it. I suggest coming here for a dinner or lunch because you receive great food for a low cost. I ordered chicken penne which was 15$ and a coke for 3$, so for under 20$ I received an excellent meal and fast service. The environment is loud and upbeat giving you a fun experience.
Recently renovated and steps away from Copps Coliseum. Staff is friendly and the service is quick.
This is the first (& last) time we have been there. We noticed the place was very noisy when we got there, but the worst was yet to come. I ordered the sirloin with shrimp, Hubby ordered the 12 oz sirloin. Mine came with no shrimp so the waitress took it back. When we resumed eating, Hubby noticed that they hadn't given us any onions, again the waitress had to bring them. They had sat us beside a party of about 30, 15 of which were screaming kids, all sat at a table by themselves, when they actually stayed at their table. They yelled incessantly, and were frequently screamed at by their parents. The kids all ran laps around the restaurant, which took them by our table about every 30 seconds. We couldn't wait to get out of there. I gave them 2 stars because the steak was great and our waitress was very efficient and friendly. WILL NOT go back again!!! Liked: Disliked:
I've visited this cookhouse many times and it has always been quite satisfactory. The dish's are all classics such as "The Canadian Burger" and their current addition of chicken taco's was great. A constantly changing menu will always have me coming back. Service is always up to par as well, no complaints on that respect. The atmosphere seems quite friendly and staff are always upbeat which makes my dine-in experience more enjoyable. I also noticed that when I was there it was quite busy and yet they brought our food out in about 15 minutes, which was pleasantly surprising. With these prices and the food offered it's a great cookhouse style restaurant, will definitely come back, keep up the good work!
The steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Came with baked potato with the works - butter, sour cream, bacon bits, cheddar cheese and green onions. Fried onions were very tasty. Kick-up corn could be warmer. It came out lukewarm. The summer grille dinner was excellent. Tender ribs, yummy wings and shrimps. Our server was attentive to us and very pleasant. What I did notice once I got home was we were missing a couple of items that should have came with our meal. I looked online at their menu and noticed that baked beans and coleslaw was missing from our meals. Not sure if this was an oversight in the kitchen or our server. This is the new location up on the mountain near Mud St. We would still go back because we enjoyed our meals. Service was quick and friendly and the food was tasty.
Went to the new location on the east mountain/upper stoney creek. Staff members hanging at the bar were loud and conversation was not becoming of family type restaurant. When I asked to speak to a manager one of the loud mouth staff I spoke of was the manager. His name was Steve. I have never dealt with such a rude, snarky representative on a company. How someone like this individual named Steve stays employed in the hospitality industry is beyond me. I do a lot of public speaking about customer service and will tell this tale whenever I get the chance. I quietly paid my bill and will never return, to any Montana's. I will however share the experience with as many people as possible. Good luck with that person representing your business.
Swiss Chalet --Love it or Hate it-- is consitant. This particular location, across from Copps Coliseum, is great. Fantastic, quick service and declicious food, as always. There have been a couple times where food (usually a baked potatoe) has been cold or undercooked, but is usually quickly replaced or compensated for. Love this location -- just needs a makeover!
