Delivery literally down the street from them (2 minute drive) - it took just over an hour... First bad thing. When I got the food, the bag was all dripping at the bottom... Starting opening things, the egg rolls were soggy not from the dripping but just from sitting around or something. Everything was extremely bland, even the sweet and sour sauce which is pretty bad.
We got take out. Although their most recent take out menu indicates free delivery to Cataraqui Woods area for orders over $15, the reality was that there was a $3 charge plus one's order had to be over $20. Their menu also indicated that pick up orders received 10% off for orders over $15 but again the reality is that it has to be over $20. I had ordered Cantonese Chow Mein but they gave me regular chow mein. Here I was looking for the crunchy noodles. My husband ordered Singapore Style Noodles and he told me it was the worst he ever had. Despite the wrong order, my dish was pretty decent. Portion sizes were good. They even included a small bowl of rice with our order although we did not need it. I had a chance to quickly peek at their buffet when I picked up my food. The price is 12.99 and the selection is pretty small. Just one line/strip of food and that's it. I think I would only go back here if I was feeling like having Chinese buffet and did not feel like going all the way downtown.
We have been regular customers for many years but after the last few visits we have decided to stop. The food always tastes excellent but the problem has been that the buffet steam table temperature has not been turned up high enough. As a result the food is not as nearly as hot as it should be. The staff are always very friendly, efficient, and accommodating.
The food and service is great here! To the comment below...are you sure you went to the same place? The seats are far from crowded and having talked to the owners personally I cannot possibly seeing either one of these men to say anything of the sort. Perhaps you went to the wrong restaurant or the waitress was simply having a bad night.
My family and I have been dining at the Chinese Palace in Kingston for many years; since I can remember. I have eaten at many different Chinese Restaurants while living in the city and I can honestly say that The Chinese Palace is the absolute BEST chinese cuisine I have ever had. This also includes their buffet. I hope they never close!!!
