Great food if you can afford it

The food is extremely good, the only issue I have with this place is the price. I am low income and can't always afford to eat here, but I love what they serve.

Fast Doesn't = Good

I have mixed feelings about Sushi Tei. Since it was a Sunday evening, my bf called to make reservations. He has an unusual name and I was surprised that he was off the phone in less than 30s! This leads me to believe that whomever picked up the phone, never wrote his name down. When we arrived, on-time, the host said that he gave away our booth as we were seated near the door. It was fine, but I couldn't help but think that this happened since our reservation was overlooked! I inquired the host about a sushi boat that was on their take-out menu. I was told that I couldn't order it, but that I could order another sushi combo that wasn't on the menu. He sent a waitress to give me the details, but I decided against it as it was even more expensive. I'm not sure why they don't offer sushi boats to share. This would be a nice option to have, especially when dining with a few people! Before our side dishes were finished, our main courses already arrived! (It was definitely within 10mins of ordering.) Aside from the California Roll being all different sizes, the presentation was fine. Although once I started eating, the Cali came apart, as well as the fish separating from the rice on the nigiri pieces. I don't mind FAST service, but I would prefer that a few extra minutes be taken to ensure rolls aren't sloppily done - especially if it's not a cheap restaurant! There doesn't seem to be any pride taken in making the sushi. The salmon soft, and so was the tuna, however it was a tad fishy. So it wasn't overall the freshest that I have tasted. As usual, green tea ice cream was served after we were done with our mains...along with the bill. And even though the host stated that there was no rush with the payment, what else are we supposed to feel when there is a receipt staring us right in the face?? So I wouldn't recommend Sushi Tei if you were looking for a romantic meal where you wanted to take your time dining. Overall, all of my dining experiences here have been decent, however not very memorable. I realise that there are other places that I enjoy more because I'm not rushed and the quality of fish is better. And again, why don't they serve sushi/maki/sashimi boats to share??

This is my go to sushi place when I have out of town guests or when someone in our group is trying sushi for the first time. The food is great, and the service is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I really like the fact that they will always try to accommodate your request for a booth, even if you're a party of two!

The owner is probably the happiest man alive...always greeting us with a smile, "Hi...long time no see!" and a wave goodbye. Sometimes I'm a bit hesitant in going because I know that he'll recognise me. In terms of the a la carte sushi places in Mississauga, I'd say that this one has the best, intimate atmosphere. Nice decor, dark coloured scheme, adequate lighting, and booths are available. Food-wise, I don't remember having a bad meal. Korean side dishes are always provided, as is green tea ice cream. This time, the fish was really fresh for both the sushi boat ($20.95) + separate spicy salmon roll ($5.95/6 pieces) that I got. Service-wise, tea is always refilled. And sometimes the manager even asks how the meal is. One thing that I must mention is that I'm not sure why they don't have larger boats with more than 20 pieces. I think this would be a popular item for patrons who don't necessarily want to go to an AYCE.

Average food for average price

Today will be my last visit to this restaurant. I was a fairly regular patron (once or twice, every other week) however the attitudes of the waitresses have blown it for me. They are opposed (to the point of scowling and whining) to providing separate cheques. Laziness perhaps? The waitress actually said to us when we asked for separate cheques "That's a lot of work." Really?! They also provide oranges to follow up your meal - nice touch but too bad they often bring it to the table when we're still eating our sushi. The food is decent however the service kills the entire experience.
