When I was about 5 years old, my dad would take myself and my two older brothers to a dirt running track at the local high school where I grew up in Williams Lake, B.C.
He gave us an offer that ended up defining what I did in my career, he said "I'll give you 5 cents for every lap you run". The funny thing is that he didn't let us spend the money.
