I come to this place because it is close proximity to where I live. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. There are booths set up like Japanese-styled rooms, jazz music is played in the background (okay not authentic, but meh), the chopsticks are placed in either bamboo boxes or in mini-kimonos. The food, well, it really depends on what your order. I give top marks to the rolls they have, and I especially recommend the Toronto and Monster rolls, those two are unique in their own ways. I didn't like their sushi and sashimis, found their fish rather not fresh. The ramen and udons are excellent. Tempura is a no-go. Service-wise is quite wishy washy due to a lack of staff, especially if you're sitting by the booths. The ring for service technique is ineffective; even I can't tell how the mechanism will notify waitresses that you need assistance. They are very friendly though. Will I visit again? Yes, of course. Just know what you're ordering. Hey, if you visit often, the chefs sometimes give something new for you to try! Lire plus

I often go here for lunch since I work nearby. The Japanese chef is very friendly and welcoming. I've had an incredibly pleasant experience every time just being in this quiet and calm restaurant (although every once in a while it's absolutely full with a lunch crowd!) I like the sushi, salmon nigiri in particular, and their uni is very very good. They don't carry toro at all, by choice. Squid, scallop, hamachi, all great. Rolls are very lovely presented. Everyone I've ever taken with me to this place has enjoyed it, whether they were sushi-addicted like me or just into it once in a while. I'm definetly going back. Lire plus

Jenna has a level 3 Sommelier course, if you are interested in Wine. She’s Greek, so loves lamb! But watch out, she’s pretty witty having a Bachelor degree Psychology. My spouse and I are here 2 to 3 times a week. That's how much we love Sapporo. We always order the same thing (salmon bento). Salmon Sashimi is always fresh, the spicy handrolls are spicy and very good. The eel sushi is excellent. Do not expect fast service especially during dinner time, or Friday/Saturday. The place is small and there is always a lineup. But the food is worth the wait. We would visit over and over again. Too bad they're closed on Mondays. :( Lire plus

This review is way past due; I've been coming here frequently for over 5 years now for no reason other than it is FANTASTIC. The master chef and his wife are such lovely people who's efforts and dedication to the restaurant really have a great influence on the atmosphere. Did I mention that the food is amazing? The rolls are made fresh and just simply really well. I love the design of the seating area and how the booths are separated it really gives a cozy feel to the place. My fave fish and chips place! I've tried tried a couple of places in Toronto but this one for me has been the best. The crowd here generally is seniors. Food and service is great. We have been eating here forever and a day. Sometimes their service (especially when busy) is a little slow, but the food has always been great! Now we do NOT go to eat sushi for artistic presentation, but for the overall freshness of the fish, and the rice. While their presentation of their food is very good, it won't compare to some high end sushi restaurants which have superb presentations. The quality of their food has always been on par with the highest end sushi restaurants I have eaten in. I like the fact that prices are about 40% less then higher end sushi restaurants, while the quality of the food itself is on par! if you are in the area, it is definitely worth a try! Lire plus
