How to stay healthy for your wedding day

13 octobre 2015

While the bride and groom spend the day taking care of the million of little tasks that make up a wedding, who is taking care of them? Before you go full steam ahead on your own wedding, here are some self-care tips to keep you in good health for the big day.

How to stay healthy for your wedding day

Stay hydrated

  • Your wedding is one of the happiest days of your life, and it's also one of the busiest. With last-minute activities and jitters to deal with, it is easy to bypass a water break or simply forget altogether.
  • Whether this is something you handle for yourself or a role you assign to a member of your bridal party, it is vital to stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • You don't want to say your vows with the headache, fatigue, and nausea of dehydration nor the risk of fainting at the altar.

Grooms: skip the wet shave

  • It may be tempting to indulge in a luxurious straight razor wet shave for your wedding day, but this can be disastrous.
  • If you don't do straight razor shaves regularly, the very close, sharp shave will inevitably irritate your skin.
  • Unless you want to have nicks and bumps in your wedding photos, stick to your standard shaving routine.

Remember the benefits of brunch

  • If you spend endless hours organizing your reception with the caterers, you may not have a chance to enjoy the food.
  • Newlyweds have numerous obligations throughout the reception which often interfere with dinner.
  • To alleviate this issue, consider a nice brunch on your wedding day.
  • Since it is earlier in the day than lunch, you won't feel too full close to the ceremony.
  • Nutritious food is just as important as hydration to keep you alert, healthy and energized throughout the day.

Resolve any honeymoon concerns

  • If your honeymoon destination is out of the country, remember to update your immunizations before travelling.
  • Some of these medications have side effects that will leave you feeling less than your best, so make sure you finish your immunizations at least a week before the wedding.

Make a vow of self-care before you walk down the aisle. With a little extra care and attention, you'll be in perfect health on your wedding day.
