Been here a few times for breakfast. Have to say it's good and the portion sizes are average. Early bird special of 3.99 til 10am which is 3 eggs toast, bacon and a coffee.. Great place to meet for breaky and the place is generally packed
Absolutely love how great the food is right now. I haven't had as much as an oversalted fry. After speaking with the front of the house manager she has told me that a cook had left a while back who they said cut alot of corners that they couldn't catch. Now the owners do almost all the cooking and it shows. The dinners are amazing and breakfast is their constant best in town. I still think they are working on surrounding the server core with one or two more likable servers but I'm sure that takes time.
Bailey's was one of the only restaurants that my husband could stand to visit when he was ill. He brought all of his friends there and the staff treated him like royalty. His father still talks about how great it was to go to Bailey's. The servers were patient and so kind to my husband - he was very picky! He always wanted to sit in the same table and always asked to have the music turned down - staff were always very accommodating. But on to the food - great basic, home cooked meals, served fast and hot. Bottomless coffee and hot water (for tea). Recommend it highly for their breakfasts particularly. Make a reservation for large parties - especially on weekends!
Having recently visited the Fonthill/Thorold area to make a presentation to the Thorold City council in celebration of the Canadian Navy's Centennial and visit the burial site of my father after my tour in Afghanistan I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant for an early supper. In a time of fast pace pre-made nuked food, where customer service is a memorized template pushed down to it's employees it was so refreshing to experience genuine honest customer service. This is truly a “family” restaurant, where the staff and owners made me and my family feel we were truly welcome. Having a real home cooked meal where you can feel the love and family unity in the air is exactly what we need to promote not belittle. After being away from my family for the better part of 14 months you appreciate the little things and hold them close to your heart. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe a smile from a little boy has taken on a negative vibe, or maybe just maybe that brief encounter could have made you smile and remember what it was like to be young and innocent. It’s amazing that through all of this the excellent food I enjoyed (best ribs I have ever had) is second to addressing this review. I hope and pray that the comment by “John” suggesting that mommyof2soon2b3 may be in the restaurant business and this is to be discredit to Bailey’s is inaccurate. Having served now on three missions and a pending fourth early in 2011, I have experienced all forms of un-civilized society’s and this country sets the bar for family values and doing what’s right. To the owner’s of Bailey’s restaurant I salute you for the service you provide and applaud you for bringing back the family feel to eating out, my troops and I will return.
I have to say that normally I do not comment or complain about bad services , However after the uncomfortable breakfast we just had I feel as though I do have to comment. I feel that we should have been paid for our services rather then us paying to eat there, and this is why. My Husband and I , decided to bring our 4 year old daughter out for a special breakfast because she was just released from day surgery. We also had our 9 months old baby with us. We decided to go to Baileys. As you can imagine any meal out is a big thing for a young family. shortly after we sat down to enjoy our selves, a nice young boy came to greet us. He was really sweet. In fact he decided to stay with our table. Once our food came I finally asked him where his mom and Dad were because we would like to enjoy our breakfast as a family. The little boy said his mom and dad were working in the kitchen. I then asked him if he could go see them. The waitress came and went with out acknowledging this child. He did leave but only for about two minutes. This carried on until we left. I really don't want to sound like a mean person but when you go out to dinner it is to relax and enjoy some time as a family. I can't stress how nice and sweet this little blond boy was! It was not him... It was the lack of supervision I think. I understand that sometimes it is hard to find childcare but I don't understand giving them no supervision. The only supervision I could see that he had was from us. We are customers, who have there own children to take care of. We didn't go there to occupy another persons child. Not to mention we are also strangers and could have easily walked out with this cute little boy! I will never return to baileys.... It is quite sad, as my husbands family have gone there for many generations. Normally the coffee is great here today it was horrible.... what is going on there ???
This is our favourite place for breakfast. We'll happily make the drive from St. Catharines on a Saturday morning. The breakfast menu is full, the food always of good quality and the service always friendly. And the bacon and cheese omlette actually has bacon in it! I have to search for more than a few scraps in other restaurants. Dinner, it's okay. Fresh veggies, but the meats leave something to be desired. I'm no fan of quarter inch thick "new york strip." But you can't go wrong for breakfast.
We have been here many times whether for breakfast, lunch, 'Christmas shopping soup break', and dinner. The food is consistantly excellent and imaginative. The prices are great and we have always had good, friendly service. I read the really awful review by the turkey people and all I can say is that it's too bad they had what they considered a bad experience, but anywhere I have ever seen turkey dinners on a menu, you are charged more for all-white meat as the majority of the population seems to prefer it. Otherwise, that is all that would get ordered. The only thing that I would consider changing is possibly dimming the lighting for the evening for a more relaxed atmosphere, otherwise Baileys gets 2 thumbs up for myself, my husband and friends we meet there. One more thing, this is the only place I have ever had Fries outside of England that realizes you have to fry the potatoes twice for optimum crispiness!
We were very disappointed in the service to start, the waitress forgot to bring milk for the coffee, we had to steal it from another table. Our meals came and my mom ordered white meat with no gravy and the plate was covered in gravy, she had to send it back and she still didn't get all white meat. The turkey was not moist at all, it tasted like it had been microwaved several times. The stuffing was like glue. They forgot to bring cranberries and buns that came with the meal. My Tortellini they forgot the chicken. It was supposed to be a pasta covered in cheese, but it was more like a soup, it was watered down and just plain gross. We were not impressed. They had the nerve to charge us extra because of the white meat. I do not recommend this place at all.
Bailey's all-day breakfasts are a treat and never fail to deliver a fresh, fast and tasty experience. The decor is dated, but who cares? The service is generally good and attentive. They know how to turn tables without making the customer feel rushed. If you go on weekends around breakfast/brunch time, except a line-up. But it moves fast, so don't give up, it's worth the short wait. My only complaint is the coffee -- it's not very good.
I had a hard time choosing my main course, & opted for the steak dinner on the servers recommendation. We had recently celebrated my Dad's b.day @ a nearby restaurant, & Bailey's put their steak dinner to shame!! And, their prices are SO reasonable. Will surely go back again & again; as a matter of fact, we're heading there tonight for my b.day. Can hardly wait to try one of the other dishes I was tempted by! Been recommending it to all our friends & family. Keep up the great work, all of you!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Steak very tender, meat on the ribs falls off the bone, french fries hot and fresh - everything was delicious! Service warm and friendly and prompt! Would recommend this restaurant if you want great food served quickly and for a reasonable price. You won't be sorry.
It's easy to see the experience from the kitchen and the knowledge that goes along with it. When the owner is in the kitchen things are done right. We were remember a time when some servers here almost ruinned the place with their obviose lack of true experience but ti looks like the management has been able to train some amazing young talent. A restaurant is only as good as the kitchen but starts at the front door. Looking good.
Love, love, love Baileys, visit all the time!!! Service is usually excellent (there's one girl who is not so great, but she doesn't work often, and she's improving), food is always good, ribs fall off the bone and are very tasty. We visit there quite often. Breakfast until 4pm most days (not all), very reasonable prices. Deep fried cheesecake is to die for, but its not always on the list. Enjoy!
Delicious. A definite return and order again...next time I'll have the blueberries.
Food was cooked perfectly. service was prompt and friendly. prices are very reasonable.
